A Shop which asks Customers to bring their own Product Packaging opens its Doors today.
The organic Grocery Store in Islington, north London, will encourage Shoppers to refill used containers. It will charge 50p each for shopping bags, if Customers do forget to bring them.
Called Unpackaged, the Shop offers to collect used plastic carriers and distribute them to local Charities.
Mayor of London Ken Livingstone supported the store, saying: "I congratulate Unpackaged for their forward-thinking approach to encourage the re-use and recycling of waste, and I hope other businesses will follow their lead."
Organic wholefoods such as rice, cereals, grains, fruit and vegetables will be sold by weight at the shop and packed in customers' own containers, bags and boxes.
