ANIMATED FILMS' LIFESTYLE LESSONS
Creatures' comfort tips
OSCAR-winning Aardman Animations has made a series of short films about eco-friendly living. An electric eel, a penguin and a leopard are among the creatures "starring" in ten clay-mation shorts airing on Discovery's Animal Planet channel. The characters are made by animators at the Bristol studio where Nick Park created world-famous characters Wallace and Gromit.
Producer Gareth Owen said: "It took us about four weeks to write the stories and another to shoot the films. On average, we got about four seconds of film from every day's work."
The Animals Save the Planet films, which last between 20 and 40 seconds, are voiced by comedian Dawn French and cover a range of environmental issues, thus: a cow learns about the effects of methane emissions; a kangaroo and a camel carry their super-market buys in their pouch and hump; a penguin powers a light in his igloo by cycling; and lions recycle bones.
