One-stop Shop for low-emission Technology
Filed under: Government News Transport
OPERATORS who purchase pollution abatement equipment so that their Vehicles meet Low Emission Zone standards can now have the device fitted and tested on-site by an authorised Examiner.
The Zone was launched last month and means the most polluting vehicles, such as Diesel-engine Lorries, must now meet strict emissions standards, or incur a daily charge of £200 for driving in the Zone.
The service is only available to operators who fit abatement devices to their Vehicles in order to comply with the standards. It is an alternative to the test facility already provided by the Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA).
Nick Fairholme, Head of the London Low Emission Zone, said of the new service: 'It will reduce the amount of time that a Vehicle needs to be taken off the Road and provides a 'One-stop Shop' for Operators keen to get their Vehicles back in service as soon as possible.'
