H2O Walk for Water, Walk for Life

THE IDEA:
‘H2O Walk for Water, Walk for Life’ is a unique ‘open-platform’ fundraising idea to support African water projects. The idea is simple: complete a sponsored walk from some place beginning with ‘H’ to somewhere beginning with ‘O’ (hence, H-to-O); then donate the money to any charity sponsoring clean water projects in Africa. Participants get to pick their own route – Holborn to Oxford Circus, Hampstead to Oval, the Hampton Arms to the Old Vic, etc. The walks don’t have to be long and can even be part of a daily commute – how about Home to Office? And because the project’s non-partisan, participants also choose which charity they give to.
PROJECT AIMS:
Part of the project is also to make the public more aware of their water usage and promote techniques for sustainability of the world’s water supply – we are so wasteful. Plus, walking is healthy! We hope to get 1 million Londoners participating within the next few years – more than run the London marathon. We are encouraging participation throughout the year, but as a community we are focusing on the week of March 22nd (World Water Day) this year.
