Electric Vehicle owners living within the M25 are offered free home charging units worth over £1,000, if they take part in the Low Carbon London Electric Vehicle usage trial — exclusively offered through a partnership between POD Point and UK Power Networks.

The Low Carbon London project is working towards the goal of reducing London’s emissions by 60% by 2025, and the year-long trial will measure how and when people charge their Electric Vehicles. Results from the trial will be used develop the Capital’s electricity networks into a reliable and sustainable low carbon electricity network.

Electric vehicle drivers who join the trial shall receive a fully-installed, high specification communicating POD Point charge point completely free of charge, which they can keep after the trial has completed.  The communicating charge points have an in-built GPRS device, which will transmits data (charging time, and duration) back to secure servers for analysis.

The charge points will be provided by London-based electric vehicle specialist POD Point, and installed by UK Power Networks.  This is the most advanced home charge unit available — the POD Point Solo charge unit.  Participants will also benefit from a free online account where they can view details of charging cycles and total energy usage.
