MAKE THE MOST OF NATURES DAILY MUSICAL WONDERS
RSPB Rainham Marshes are joining many others around the world this spring to celebrate the wonders of bird song at dawn.
At the crack of dawn every day in springtime, a cacophony of noise breaks out as birds sing their hearts out to attract a mate and build a family home. Woodlands are the best places to hear birdsong, although you can even enjoy the spectacle from your back garden.
Helping you to get the most out of this natural wonder, experts at RSPB Rainham Marshes nature reserve, Purfleet, are hosting a series of walks every Sunday in May. A 4am start will ensure you experience the spectacle at its best, followed by a well-deserved breakfast in the welcoming café. Anything up to a hundred different types of birds can be seen in a single day at Rainham Marshes.
RSPB dawn chorus walk leader Howard Vaughan says: “If you think that getting up at 4am on a Sunday morning is a bit much, just give it a try and within minutes you will be thrilled. The dawn chorus is one of nature’s great spectacles, and unlike a trip to Africa it’s something we can all take part in. You’ll just need to be up with the early birds!”
