Green Sky Studios
What does 'Green Design' really mean?
Architects are now creating amazingly diverse and innovative solutions to tackle the real threats of Climate Change.
From 24 to 26 September 2008, 25 of London's up-and-coming and established architects will be inviting you into their own studios to reveal how they are helping to design a greener world, as part of Open House's new Green Sky Studios programme. Taking forward the debate about how we can make our cities greener with those who will be commissioning buildings, as well as with those living and working in the capital.
A thought-provoking yet informal initiative, Green Sky Studios offers an exciting line-up of events from one-on-one bespoke sustainability consultations with experienced eco-architects to live demonstrations of sustainable construction techniques, drama sessions, day workshops and tours of an eco live/work space complete with solar water heater, bird, bat and insect boxes, green and wildflower meadow roofs.
There are some great events happening such as a visit to Justin Bere's
ecohome/office and a drop-in consultation on sustainable design with the
youmeheshe young architects' team. Also we've found that many of the
architects taking part have already
been contacted by people who are interested in commissioning green builds.
All events are free of charge and some require prebooking. Check our dedicated webpage at openhouse.org.uk/sustainability for up-to-date details.
Hope you can make it along!
